A pelvic and transvaginal ultrasound (also known as a pelvic imaging scan or transvaginal sonogram), is used to assess the function and structures of the pelvis, including the uterus, ovaries, and fallopian tubes. This non-invasive medical test uses sound waves to diagnose various pelvic conditions.

In this procedure, a sonographer places a transducer (a piece of ultrasound equipment that looks like a microphone) on a patient's lower abdomen for the pelvic scan and inserts a specially designed transducer into the vagina for the transvaginal scan, enabling a real-time visualization of the female reproductive organs and surrounding structures.
